STORY

The Matute 11 building is an aristocratic mansion built at the end of the 19th century as the residence of the Countess of Alba de Liste. In the mid-20th century, the building became a hotel, becoming a benchmark in Madrid as a residence for bullfighters and soccer players. Concentration point for Real Madrid players in the 1940s.

The 4,000-square-meter building has been transformed into a unique space for luxury apartments intended for tourist and corporate rental.

The specialist in architecture and interior decoration Margarita Pérez Benitez, originally from Motril (Granada), would become the Director of the project for the remodeling of the interior of the mansion.

Margarita gradually transformed the interior into a benchmark of modernity and elegance, keeping the distinction of the emblematic building intact.

A modernist mansion from the end of the 19th century, renovated to convert it after an unbeatable rehabilitation process, where it recovered its most hidden details, such as pieces of old original painting or wallpaper from the 60s under coats and coats of later paint.

This makes the stay at Matute 11 a unique experience since you could come 39 different times and the guest would always stay in a new room.

The customization was carried out after an exhaustive creative process, Marga was breathing each space to reinvent it again, thus turning this palace into a trend reference, mixing modernity and classicism, in a privileged environment of the city.

Curved walls in the form of that or more or less closed rounded corners covered with their own furniture destined for the space. The exclusive decoration, sprinkled with modern and comfortable furniture with some pieces from antique dealers and antique dealers from all over Europe, make Matute the unique place it is.

Also noteworthy is the intervention of other artists such as the painter Amor Diez, who recovered part of the frescoes on the ceilings, inspired by and reproducing the parts found, and that of the graphic designer Pilar Lara, who composed a whole series of vinyl creations based on cultural and gastronomic myths. from Spain: Goya's Maja, Don Quixote or Carmen de Bizet
